Mangalore: The emphasis is upon growing young these days and take part in running the world affairs in a responsible way under democracy.
A seminar designed by Sri Ramakrishna Math of Mangaladevi, Mangalore, with a prime view of developing students personality by teachers was conducted in the centenary Vivekananda building on Sept 27-28. The event was inaugurated by Dr. H.N. Vishwanatha of Mysore
Addressing the seminar for B.Ed, students today on the first day, Dr. HH.N. Vishwanatha stated that the workshop was not limited to a day, but to a whole new generation. The present event relates to young teachers who have to guide future generations. The young teachers have to get trained for all future occasions.
Not only in one’s mother tongue, the teachers have to teach in new languages, thereby trying to face new situations with a capable attitude. Man can spend the past in his mind, along with opening up a new future in which great men like Vivekananda and Gandhi can be his inspirational sources. By following those universal men, the young teachers can transform new raw students into new thinkers of a modern age, Dr. HNV stated. Several resources persons of international repute were present in the seminar.
He dwelt on human personality development and nation-building, of which the students are the bricks and teachers are the builders, and the architecture was supplied by Swami Vivekananda.
Swami Jitakamanandaji, local President, welcomed the gathering and spoke of a need for really good and dedicated teachers in our educational system. He opened the first day’s seminar Swamiji told the listeners that the teachers should have no inferiority feelings, but possess a strong will and dedication to build a new India. When they are proud of being teachers, honours come to them unasked. Positive values thinking make teachers strong and capable of developing their students’ personalities, Swamiji indicated.
A person may hold a high post in life but he reached there through the loving care of his teachers who moulded him, he should know. If that memory holds, he will be grateful to his teachers who brought out his personality and gave it an adorable shape. The teacher’s profession is sacred, and he should be revered for his sacrifices the Swamiji advised.
In the evening, poor students were distributed free text books by Sujir Prabhakar. The seminars continue on 3 days with scholars and resources persons for B.Ed, M.S.W and Engg. Students. On 28th, Lokayukta N. Santosh Hegde will attend a seminar.
