Belthangady : A local resident, a beat police constable chased a car and caught two persons allegedly involved in stealing a purse of a grocery vendor in Kuvettu village of Guruvayanakere in Belthangady on Friday.
According to police, three unidentified men came to the grocery shop of Daya to buy vegetables.
As she was giving vegetables, one of the men snatched her purse, containing a gold chain and her mobile phone, and they all escaped in a car.
Arun, a member of the police beat committee of Kuvettu, immediately called the beat constable Ashok.
Mr. Ashok chased the car and took help of villagers to stop it.
He apprehend two persons in the car and recovered the purse of Daya.
The police have given the names of arrested persons as Amanulla Khan and Mohammed Iqbal.
Superintendent of Police B.M. Laxmi Prasad has commended the work of Mr. Ashok.
