Mangalore: DC A B Ibrahim released a book on Akshara Santa Hajabba `Aparoopada Samajasevaka Harekala Hajabba’, written by Ismath Pajeer and published by Talent Research Foundation here on, June 27
After releasing the book DC A B Ibrahim said, Harekala Hajabba contributed more than his ability. A uneducated fruit vendor struggled to build a primary and high school for the village children.
He also said that the department already suggested freedom fighter and writer Kayyara Kinhanna Rai’s name for the Padmashree award. Hajabba’s name will also be recommended for the award.
C.H. Krishna Shastri, retired teacher, spoke on the occasion and presented the book review.
Harekala Hajabba was the chief guest of the programme. Abdul Ravoof Puttige presided over the function.
DC handed over a mobilephone set to Hajabba, which was sponsored by the Talent Research Foundation.
The foundation also presented the scholarships to Nagma Maimoona, Ravi Kiran, Sonia, the talented poor students.
