Kundapura : The Gangolli police on Thursday registered against a person on the charge of threatening a farmer and charging exorbitant interest from him.

According to the police, Lesly Rebello from Senapura village in Kundapur taluk had borrowed Rs. 5 lakh from Umesh Shetty on December 17, 2013, promising to return it in three months. But he could not repay it and gave a written undertaking of paying it a year and also pledged his land on January 29, 2014.

However on July 13, 2015, Mr. Shetty along with two others barged into Mr. Rebello’s house and gave him an ultimatum to repay the loan of Rs. 5 lakh with an interest of Rs. 15 lakh within a week, failing which Mr. Shetty threatened to flatten Mr. Rebello’s house with an earthmover and throw his family out.
