Mangaluru: Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, U T Khader said that one free household cylinder will be given to the urban areas in the state along with the subsidized cylinder.
Speaking to the press personnel at Circuit House, Mangaluru on Tuesday he said that to reduce the use of kerosene the households of urban area will get a additional free cylinder every month.
“Usually the urban area people go for kerosene stoves, after the gas cylinder gets empty. This needed to be reduced. In rural areas, the people can opt for two solar lights if they do not require cylinders,” he said.
Further commenting on drinking water purification units in Mangaluru he said that a new drinking water purification unit will be set up in Mangaluru constituency for every 1000 people. All the households can buy the purified water by paying Rs 10 for 20 litres.
“The project will be implemented under Public Private Partnership (PPP). KRIDL is the private player which is going to implement the project. A moderate size purification unit will cost Rs 7.5 lakh and a large unit will cost Rs 10 lakh. The project is being implanted only for drinking water purpose,” he added.
He further said that under the state tourism development scheme it is planned to develop various beaches. Rs 3,33,33,000 is allotted for Someshwar, Rs 1,89,00,000 for Ullar and Rs 3,00,00,051 has been allotted for talapady beach.
“The amount will be utilized for the development of walkway, connecting roads, highmast light, pedestrian seating and resting shed and for other developmental purposes,” he quoted.
