Katipalla (Mangalore): The Srinivasa Kalyana (marriage) celebrations would take place on Thursday, May 12 in the Godhooli Lagna (evening) at the large Pandal erected on a place behind Jarandaya Daivasthana in the lleadership of Venkatesh Murthy of Srivari Foundation, Bangalore.
This was disclosed by Sharatchandra Shetty Hosabettu in a press meet he called at Press Club on Monday.
Tirupathi is where Lord Venkatesha lives with Padmavathi and with seven hills spread out like 7 hoods of Shesha (a serpent) in the background. The Srinivasa-Padmavathi Kalyana Mahotsava (marriage ceremony) is a religious act of worship in deep devotion by Hindu believers.
Under present circumstances of discord and uneasiness, the performance of this religious ceremony brings harmony and happiness to lakhs of people, said Sharatchandra Shetty of Hosabettu, explaining the event.
The marriage celebrations under an elaborate programme on May 12, Thursday at the Sheshadri Vedike (stage). About 15,000 devotees are expected to attend, he informed. There is a special dinner at the end of the glorious event, he added.
Sandesh Shetty (Bala GP Chief), Dayananda Prabhu (secretary), Tilakraj (Corporators), S.Ramesh (Genl. Secy. of S K Samithi), Ms. Pushpa (Permude GP Chief), Hoovappa Shettigar (a senior citizen), among others were present.
