Mangalore : The AJ Hospital and Research Centre at Kuntikana, Mangalore, founded in 2001, has been in the forefront of modern technology in the matter of medical care in the coastal region. Presently it has acquired High Field 1.5 Telsa 18 Channel Supercon MRI Scanner and a Cath Lab for medical use.
The Cathlab has advanced features for cardiac investigation and intervention, said Dr. Prashanth Marla, Director of the centre in his Press Meet on Tuesday (June 29). It has extra software support to give better images and assistance to cardiologists performing difficult procedures.
The MRI Supercon system with a total Imaging Matrix (TIM) cames loaded with Neuro, Ortho, Cardiac, Onco, Body, Angio, Paediatric and Breast suites.
This machine can image the whole body giving better image clarity for improved diagnosis, faster imaging for restless patients, spectroscopic studies for tumours and malignancies, and diagnosis of neuro-degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and multiple sclerosis, Dr. Marla state. He disclosed that the two medical machines were imported from Siemens’ of Germany.
The public needs to be made aware of the availability of new and advanced facilities in Mangalore, the concluded.
