Mangalore : The DK Police Department organized a day long workshop on Drug Awareness at Commissioner Office conference hall on March 20, Tuesday.
Speaking after inaugurating the workshop Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said that usage of drugs is a burning issue from past many years. It is the problem faced by everyone and cannot be solved by one department, but the combined effort of all the department will help to eradicate the menace to some extent working at the practical level.
He also said that earlier the police department has also organized the drugs awareness campaign in malls, Panambur Beach and Ullal Beach and other places to create awareness among the public.
Based on the information gained by the public, the monitoring unit will trace the spot and people and register the case against them and try to check it which leads various crimes.
Speaking on the topic of workshop he said that the resource person of the workshop will speak on types, classification and identification of drugs and its investigation.
He urged the officials to make use of the workshop and gain more knowledge on it. We cannot compromise with the crime which takes place with the influence of drugs and it is like a cycle leading various crimes, he added.
Pankaj Dwivedi of Bangalore Narcotic Department and Venugopal G, Superintendent participated as the resource person.
DCP M Muthuraya and others were present on the occasion.
