Bantwal: A gang of 11 assailants attacked a 38-year-old man in a revenge bid, at the Maripalla Junction on December 9, Wednesday.

The victim has been identified as Haneef alias Mada Haneef (38) was suffered critical injuries after he was assault.

Haneef alias Mada Haneef, who also is accused in a murder case of an auto driver, Rifai, last year.

The incident took place, when Haneef was on the way to his shop located near Maripalla junction — a few people, suspected to be affiliated to Jabbar gang, attacked him with weapons and fled from the scene.

Haneef who suffered severe injuries was immediately taken to a hospital in Mangaluru.

ASP Vincent Shantakumar, Bantwal CI Beliappa and other police personnel visited the spot. DCP Shantharaju visited the hospital where Haneef was admitted.

Bantwal rural police have registered a case.
