Mangalore : A Narasimha Bhat, renowned author conferred with the ‘Erya Award of the year 2011 at the auditorium of Canara College first Grade College on March 4, Friday.
Sandhya Pai, Managing Editor of ‘Taranga’ released the book ‘Mirdhadana Mantra Pusthaka’, the Kannada translation of ‘The book of Mirdha’ authored by A Narasimha Bhat on the occasion.
Speaking after conferring the award to Bhat, she said that the depth of the book is only known when the reader completely reads and understand the matter written with the research.
She also said that, the released book does not belong to the category which is kept aside after reading, but it can be kept handy and it will be useful for solving some problems.
The people are following the system of the past saints and scholars by reading their written books. But we must think that there is some limitation and hence we need to think on our own.
At present days the teachers and lecturers in schools and colleges tell the students to collect the information and do not think on it. The person who enjoys every moment of his life is the satisfied human, she added.
After receiving the award, A Narasimha Bhat said that most of the people criticize the translation work by saying it not to be creative. He said that only writer can know the difficulties.
There are many languages and people cannot learn every language to read one book, hence translated books are not important, he said.
Erya Lakshminarayana Alva delivered the introductory speech. Dr GN Bhat, principal of the college welcomed the guests and gathering. Annappa Pai, president of Canara College Association was present on the occasion.
A Narasimha Bhat was honoured with a shawl, memento, garland, fruit ball and cash prize of RS 10,000.
