Mangalore: Melwyn Rodrigues who won a Central Academy award of Rs1 lakh for Konkani poetry in 2011 was honoured by ‘Maandd Shobhann’ team at Chefs in Kadri in the presence of huge gathering, consisting of music lovers and well-wishers on Friday, on the eve of a new Leap year, in a function arranged to release the new and “richest Konkani album” to be ever released by MS, here and in 70 places all over the world, selling 1472 CDs at each venue thus establishing a new record for largest number of Album copies in Konkani sold in one day at any release venue.
The ‘Vazram(diamonds)-Motiam(pearls) album has 12 Konkani songs, written by renowned poets, but music scored by Gurkar Eric Ozario of Maandd Shobhann (stage songs).
The CD was released by Ronald Mendonca, Kalangann chairman, President Stany Alvares of MS, and Eric Ozario., himself.
The Gurkar stated that MS was building a marketing network worldwide, and thanked NRI Ronald Colaco and others. All such contributors were felicitated at the venue in Kadri.
Eric praised Cajethan Dias for putting together singers and poets. Titus Noronha read a citation on poet Melwyn. The muhurat shot of the CD release was followed by ballet and song video, taken by Leo Rodrigues, a NRI.
