Bangalore : A New Bus Depot was opened here for KSRTC – run Volvo buses at Central Division Depot No. 4, by Transport minister R. Ashoka today.
Buses operating from Subhashnagar in city will continue to depart from, or arrive at as usual, but they will be maintained at the new Depot opened for Volvo services, which were scattered earlier. These buses go to various destinations all over the state, and many beyond the state borders too.
The renovation of the new depot inaugurated today, was done at a huge cost of Rs. 1.25 crores, the minister informed. He told that KSRTC had secured 19 awards in only 2 years, from all over India. One more award, the Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Award for 2011 is being presented today in New Delho, he added. The proud minister praised the drivers, mechanics and operational staff members for taking KSRTC to the top as the best transport organization in this country.
About 170 Volvo buses can be stationed at a time in the new Depot. KSRTC has 360 buses in 644 Schedules to 60 major destinations (even outside the state) everyday, it is stated.
