Mangalore: A New Website karnatakabearysahityaacademy.org was opened by pressing a button by Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateelu, in the presence of President of this Academy, Prof. M.B. Abdul Rehman and Registrar, Chandrahas Rai B. today at 11 AM in Hotel Shrinivas, Mangalore.
Retired Vice-Chancellor of Kannur and Kozhikode Universities, Dr. M. Abdul Rahiman, presided over the function. MLAs N. Yogish Bhat and U.T. Khader of Mangalore (North and South) were present as chief guests.N. Kateelu in his address stated that the Beary tongue was as old as Tulu and its culture on the west coast.
The Mangalore MP revealed that the two communities were interwoven and connected to each other, and relations are harmonious. However, Beary people are scattered all over the world, especially in Arabian countries, on account of employment and trade purposes in these days. But the new website could bind them together, he expressed the hope.
Several dignitaries like Abdul Azeez Baikampady, Raheem Uchila, Dr. Susheela P. Upadhyaya (Academy member), U.P. Abdul Razak, K.P Khalid and P. Mohamed among others, were present on the dais.
Registrar C. Rai welcomed. Shamsuddin Madikeri thanked the gathering. Journalist Hamza Malar conducted the proceedings.
