Bantwal : A panchayat member allegedly killed his wife and daughters at their house on September 23 Wednesday,in Manchi.

Sources say that Padmanabha Nayak (45) killed his wife Pushpalatha and daughters – Prithvi (6) and Purvi (4) and then he committed suicide.

The incident came to light when his brother’s wife, who lives in the neighbourhood, came to Padmanabh’s house,on Wednesday morning.

It is suspected that there was marital discord between the couple, and Padmanabh was unhappy that his wife was not obedient.

A suicide note was found at the spot, in which Padmanabh stated that no one was responsible for his death and it was his will. He also has stated in the noted that he had left insurance money for his mother and brother.

His wife Pushpavati was engaged in a self-help group of Dharmasthala. She was also a trustee of a temple.

The Bantwal police reached the spot and are investigating.
