Mangaluru: A person was found dead on the railway tracks at Padil here on Saturday night.
The deceased man is identified as Deepak Barke (41).
It is said that he must have committed suicide by lying across the railway track as his body with the head crushed was found on the railway tracks.
The deceased man was a resident of Barke here and was living with his sister in a flat near Karmar Padil since a few years. He is working at a call centre located at Morgans Gate here.

Since Sunday is a holiday for his office, Deepak was at home. However, in the evening, he left the house equipped with his wallet and cell phone and though the day turned to night, he failed to return back home. It is presumed that, he must have decided to take the extreme step as he was leaving the house. Hence he went directly to the railway tracks at Padil. Deepak might have been crushed under the wheels of the train at about 9.30 pm on Saturday, suspect the police.
The railway police visited the spot where the unfortunate victim lay after getting information of the incident. Finding the ht victim’s cell phone at the location, his identity was established based on the telephone numbers on the set. They then contacted the victim’s family and gave them the bad news.
Mr Barke was a post graduate in political science and initially worked as a lecturer for FMC College in Madikeri. He then joined as a manager for ICICI and Tata AIG Insurance companies before finally joining Mphasis call centre at Morgan’s Gate and was working there since 7 years.
The real motive behind the victim’s need to take the extreme step remains unknown. A case of unnatural death has been registered with the railway police here.
