Mangaluru : Madhusudhan, an inmate of the Mangaluru district prison, has accused fellow inmate Safan Hussain and his friends of assaulting him and forcing his family members to recharge Hussain’s mobile phone.

In a complaint filed with the Barke police following his release on Thursday, Madhusudhan accused Hussain and his friends of assaulting him and forcing him to wash their clothes and plates when he was in the prison.

One day, Safan Hussian called Madhusudhan’s mother using the latter’s mobile phone and demanded that she recharge his mobile phone with Rs. 5,000. He reportedly threatened to assault Madhusudhan badly if she did not do it.

Madhusudhan said his mother recharged Safan Hussain’s mobile phone for Rs. 1,500. The police said Safan Hussain and his associates were arrested on the charge of extortion.
