Mangaluru : A bus traveling from Bengaluru to Manipal accidentally caught fire near Uppinangady on Monday Dec.1 early morning.

It is said, around 5 a.m., a passenger saw fire at a corner of the rear end of the bus and raised alarm. The driver stopped the bus and the passengers rushed out of the bus even as the fire engulfed the bus.

A 23-year-old college student Barsa Rai suffered burns in his fingers on this incident. The Manipal student, reportedly burnt his fingers while trying to get his luggage out of the bus. He was taken to a private hospital in Puttur. The police later said the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit.

The Fire and Emergency Services personnel reached the spot around 5.30 a.m. and doused the fire.
