New Delhi: The Supreme Court has come down heavily upon the tainted (DMK) MP, A Raja, for what it indicated him as showing “disrespect” to the (Congress) Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh by ignoring his advice on 2 G spectrum allocation matters (to wait upon). A Raja was pulled up not heeding to PM’s suggestion of referring the matter to an Empowered Group of Ministers and not to hurry. Why was it not done, the Apex Court asked Raja.
The Department of Tele-communications also went wrong, the Court found out and skipped the usual procedure and brushed aside the (PM’s) recommendation, it added. The former Minister was censured by the SC for ignoring Law Ministry advice to refer the allocation to Attorney – General.
Raja denied any disrespect to PM in the Court. The Union Govt, has kept away from A.Raja, as he neither went as per PM’s advice to wait, nor heeded to Law Ministry suggestion to obtain AG’s opinion on 2G spectrum allocation, as they had reservations about it.
A Raja on Wednesday (Dec. 1) refuted the CAG’s report against his “sins” and claimed that he followed Telecom Regulation Authority (TRA). He reacted to CAG’s report on losses due to 2 G spectrum Allocations in a hurry (of Rs 1.76 lakh crores) to the Central Court, as “highly speculative”.
