Mangalore: A silver chariot gifted by builder /owner Ramesh Kumar and his family, weighing 225kg of silver was presented amidst sonorous rituals to the Kudroli Kshetra at 12.45pm today, in the presence of B. Janardhana Poojary and a galaxy of priests.
The chariot was formally dedicated to the temple at an auspicious Vrishabha Muhurtha, at a time when Mahashivarathri and annual festivities are taking place at the Gokarnanatha Temple today.
The Chariot is 18.5 feet tall, with a diameter of 8.5 meters. It has cost Rs.2 crores to the affluent donor family, owning Deepa Comforts Hotel (on MG Road).
An idol of the presiding diety was carried on the silver chariot, followed by Ratha Pooja and other rites.
Harikrishna Bantwal attributed the splendid donation as a Seva by Ramesh Kumar and family. The chariot has become an additional attraction at the Kudroli Temple. CPC SeemanthKumar Singh and Sairam, the Chief Temple Trustee, were present.
