Mangalore : A total of 18 students from Mangalore will be appearing for forthcoming 2014-2015 SSLC examinations in Tulu.
In spite of various efforts to make Tulu a third language in schools, the government finally granted approval to start Tulu a third language from the academic year 2010-2011.
Hence the Pompei High school from Urwa store has taken initiative to volunteer 18 students to write SSLC 2014-2015 examinations in Tulu.
The department has already submitted model exam papers to SSLC board and the board had allotted code number 69 for Tulu. The code number is compulsory for all the subjects. They have even sent the list of students appearing for the exams for the board.
Tulu Sahithya Academy stated that the government wanted to introduce Tulu as a third language in at least 100 schools but the attempt failed since the text books sent to various schools were never utilized as no students opted for Tulu.
Academy also said that they have directed to distribute to schools including private schools from the academy.
