New Delhi : In a landmark judgement today at the special CBI court in Ghaziabad, the Talwar couple have been found guilty under 302, 201, 34 and 203 (IPC). While Nupur Talwar has been convicted under the of 302, 34 and 201, Rajesh was found guilty under 302, 201, 34 and 203 (IPC). A case of 203 has been slapped against him on charges of misleading the probe.
According to the CBI report, while filing an FIR with the police, Rajesh Talwar had made a conclusive statement saying that Hemraj murdered his daughter and is scot free. Written in Hindi, the statement was in past, which gives a clear indication of Rajesh’s state of mind and the fact that he knew, he was dead.
Apart from this, there were other evidences like the usage of a medical instrument-scalpel-and the surgical method used for slitting both the victim’s throats and the medical remains of antiseptics used by doctors to remove the blood spots were certain things that strengthened the case further.
Meanwhile, the Talwars released a statement saying they were “deeply disappointed, hurt and anguished for being convicted for a crime that we have not committed. We will, however, not stop fighting for justice and move the higher court.” This clearly means that they are going to move the Allahabad court for justice.
Sources further add that the couple broke down after hearing the judgement. They have now been taken under judicial custody and are being taken to Dasna jail.
This is the only case in India, which has received judgement on circumstantial evidence. The arguments for the sentence will be held tomorrow.
