New Delhi: An Indian woman, who was kidnappedin Afghanistan last month has been rescued and she will reach New Delhi on Saturday morning, said External Affair Minister Sushma Swaraj in her tweet.
In her blog she has tweeted sying “I am happy to inform you that Judith D’Souza has been rescued.”
Judith D’Souza (40) who works at Aga Khan Foundation was kidnapped by a gunman on June 9, at Qala-e-Fatullah, Kabul when she was returning from a dinner at her friend’s place. She is hailing from Kolkata.
Sushma has further mentioned in her tweet that “Thank you Afghanistan – for all your help and support in rescuing #Judith. Ambassador @VohraManpreet – you have done an outstanding job.#Judith. Judith D’Souza is with us – safe and in good spirits. She will reach her Motherland at the earliest. Vande Mataram.”
“I have spoken to Judith. She is reaching Delhi this evening. Ambassador @VohraManpreet is accompanying her,” she tweeted.
Judith was working as a Senior Technical Advisor at the NGO since July 2015.
Judith’s brother has also expressed his gratitude by tweeting “Judith has been rescued by the government. Our family’s joy knows no bounds. Gratitude to @PMOIndia @SushmaSwaraj @VohraManpreet.”
