Mangaluru: A man, who was abducted by a gang from Manjanady Kalkatta two weeks ago, was let out at Sullia and kidnappers gave him money for the bus charge, on Saturday.
Mohammad Arif (29) was abducted by a gang in a Scorpio car on August 11. He was running a fish business after returning back from abroad. He had been to the port to bring fish for business and on the way he was abducted by a gang.
Kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 1.5 crore. They had contacted the family members through a foreign number phone. Afraid family assured to give Rs 25 lakh and refused the demand of 1.5 crore. Kidnappers didn’t budge to the family’s woes.
Family members registered a case of kidnap. When police started their enquiry they found that Lateef, Farooque and a gang from Kerala has involved in the abduction. Police tried to catch the kidnappers, but they couldn’t succeed in their efforts.
It is also said that Arif had borrowed Rs 40 lakh from a person while working in abroad. As he hasn’t returned back the money, they might have kidnapped him to balance the equation.
