Mangalore : State Minister for Youth Services and Fisheries and Moodbidri MLA Abhayachandra Jain has decided to quit his fisheries portfolio.
Abhaya who spoke to reporters here on May 27, Monday, said his resignation was due to religious reasons. He said his supporters have been pleading him ever since he took charge to quit the post. He further added that he does not want to hurt their sentiments.
The Minister belongs to the Jain community which is vegetarian and is a believer in the principle of non-violence. It was due to this that his supporters have been pleading him not to continue as fisheries minister.
