Mangalore : Students of Akhila Bharathiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a protest in front of police commissioner’s office on Tuesday September 23, condemning the failure of Mangalore City police to take action against anonymous Facebook user who uploaded photos of city based college students.

Prior to the protest the students carried out a rally from Jyothi circle to the police commissioner’s office.

Addressing the protestors, Amit Kotian, state assistant secretary of ABVP said that some anonymous Facebook user, who created a Facebook page titled, ‘Sexy Models and Hot girls’ and uploaded the photos of girls belonging to different colleges, without the permission.

He also said that the organization had approached the police commissioner to register a complaint and take action against the user five days ago but commissioner failed to respond to the demand.

There is no satisfactory punishment for the cyber crimes. Hence huge number of people misuse the technology, he added.
