Udupi: Over a thousand students of all colleges of Udupi town gathered at the clock tower to protest against the Love Jihad incident of rape of one of their community Sonal Naik of a prestigious college in town by a Muslim student Mohammed Yaseer who was subsequently arrested by the Udupi police within 24 hours of his committing crimes like blackmailing of a girl student by publishing indecent pictures in local Face Book so that anybody who cares could see it with a séance of shame.

The protesting ABVP students at large blocked the roads leading to the clock tower and service bus stand for an hour and made speeches against criminals like Mohammed Yaseer, who they demanded should be punished according to law, without any political pressure from any corner or party to release him on bail so that he could run away.

The student criminal Mohammed Yaseer before his arrest and detention had even erased the Face book pictures he had earlier taken with Sonal Naik in compromising positions with him to loot her of Rs. 3 laks and defame her parents at home.

The shouting students were adamant that justice be done to all female students in Udupi colleges in view of what had happened to Sonal in an unguarded movement. Such things they contended in their feary speeches on the road should never happen again in college or hostel for any other girl student of young age. They wanted stringent punishment for Mohammed Yaseer and his gang if any.

They summoned SP Dr Boralingaiah to the Meeting and told him in clear terms that Yaseer be punished under various sections of the IPC. The SP, in tern promises the students to do all he can by law and order, and principles of justice within 30 days from today (Jan.13).

There were 3 lady students who were going back to their colleges after the meeting when they were stopped by a group of 15 or 20 mischievous students saying they should not enter the college. The ABVP students just behind the 3 girls stormed and surrounded the lawless group of students who had threatened the girls and the fight became imminent. The Udupi police on hearing about this confrontation rushed to the spot and talked to both groups forcing them to disperse without an unruly mob incident on the roads.
