Mangalore : The Mangalore unit of Akhila Bharathiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a protest at Bunts Hostel on June 30, Saturday against the increase in CET fee.
Addressing the protestors, ABVP state secretary Ramesh K said that the universities are busy looking up for new educational projects without finding solution to the old problems that are faced by the students. The state government lacks proper higher education minister to deal with these problems and resting 30 portfolios in CM Sadananda Gowda’s hands.
The ABVP demanded to withdraw the 10 percent hike in CET fees. They also criticized government’s failure to provide the same schedule for all the state universities for starting counseling through the Karnataka Examination Authority by centralizing the entrance procedure.
They also demanded the state government to appoint higher education minister as soon as possible and arrest the culprits involved in the Kuvempu University marks card scam.
Chinmay Rai, secretary of the city ABVP, and many other participated in this protest.
