Mangalore: Sullen ABVP activists took out a protest march ending in a rally in the port city on Saturday, May 7 to throw out vice-chancellors of some Universities, whop flouted norms set by UGC ignored the directions of court and violated academic rules.
They demanded legal action these lawless V-Cs who practiced nepotism (a weakness) in making new appointments, commercialized educational systems and encouraged the menace of donations or higher fees in certain Universities in Mysore, Bijapur and Health Sciences. They practiced caste mentality issued question papers in advance to 52 students and awarded ranks to 17 among them, ABVP alleged. They named these former V-Cs as anti students.
They state govt. had conducted investigations into charges of such corruption in Universities, but the report is not published. They, (students in rally) demanded a Lok Pal Bill for themselves. A memorandum was after submitted to Deputy Commissioner at his office.
