Mangalore : 1st Additional District and Sessions Court on April 26, Saturday, awarded life imprisonment to Chandra alias Chandrashekar (32) in connection with the murder of civil contractor Jayakumar in his residence at Meenakaliya, Baikampady, three years ago.
It is learnt that, Jayakumar hailing from Kerala was staying in a rented house at Meenakaliya. Chandrashekar who had heated argument with Jayakumar in the later’s house had slit his throat with a sickle on December 8, 2011.
Chandrashekar who was friendly with Jayakumar’s sister’s son Kiran had made him used to bad habits, hence Jayakumar had advised Chandrashekar in this regard and warned him to file a police complaint if he would continue misleading Kiran. In ordered to take revenge for this act and plotted to kill him on December 8.
In this regard, a complaint was filed by Ratishchandra in Panambur Police Station.
After the incident, Chandrashekar who was absconding was later arrested by the then Police Inspector of Panambur Policer Station Valentine D’Souza.
Police questioned a total of 20 witnesses, including three prime and a charge sheet was also submitted in the court.
Judge Uma M.G. C.Venkatramanaswamy and Manjunath V.Bhat were he public prosecutors announcd the sentence.
