Malpe: It has been requested that the tourists going to St Mary’s island through tourist boats must adhere to certain guidelines and that they should also cooperate with the appointed staff on the island. This decision was taken at a meeting conducted with the boat owners in the presence of the DC on Nov 13th.
All tourists travelling towards St Mary’s island on tourist boats from Malpe beach and the bunder must compulsorily wear life jackets. If the boat ferries more tourists than its capacity, then a written complaint against the owner of the boat must be submitted to the committee.
Tourists visiting the St Mary’s Island are banned from taking plastic items with them to the island.
Food can be taken in metal containers, yet the food should not be covered in plastic cover. If there are more vessels, then a fee will be collected. For the convenience of the tourists, the boat service will be started at 6:30 am on holidays.
To give complaints regarding any problems arising from the staff of the tourist boats or at the island or for any other issue, or for further information, one can contact Malpe Development Committee Manager at 9964024177, informed the DC in a release.
