Bangalore: A finger of suspicion is pointed at Upendra who wrote and directed his latest hit ‘super’ as another director alleged that the story was lifted from elsewhere. Rajshekhar claimed it was his story that Uppi took. ’Super’ is based on a stolen story, the other director informed, creating a new controversy in Kannada film circles. Rajshekhar went to Upendra’s house to rake up the issue and make noises.
A few members of writers’ and film directors’ unions have backed the fighting director Rajshekhar for justice. But Upendra ruled them out. He asked the other director to go to court with documentary proofs.
Bahubali, an assistant of Rajshekhar has confirmed that Upendra had used the story that was read out to him by Rajshekhar several years ago. Several allegations are now bandied about.
But M.S. Ramesh who heads the Film Directors’ Union, stated that no written complaints were made so far. When a film becomes a hit, such claims and counter claims arise as usual, he added. The controversy is for publicity only MSR said.
