Mumbai: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made its first arrest in the Adarsh Housing Society scam in Mumbai. Earlier in January 2011, the CBI had registered an FIR against 14 people.
The role of three former chief ministers Ashok Chavan, Vilasrao Deshmukh and Sushil Kumar Shinde are under scrutiny.
The arrest came after the Bombay High Court last week rapped the CBI asking why no prominent names have been arrested so far.
The court also asked why no action had been taken against the government officers named in the FIR. They include bureaucrats Jairaj Pathan and Pradeep Vyas.
The CBI is yet to file a chargesheet in the case.
