Haveri: The state government has received Rs 2,000 in the drought relief given by the central government but the farmers are being given a lot of injustice by matching the drought relief with loans, said former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai.
Speaking to the media in Haveri, he said that the state government had given Rs 2,000 as drought relief, but now they are cutting the same and giving money to farmers’ accounts. Also, they are adjusting the money given by the central government for the relief of the farmers. Instead of providing relief to farmers who are in distress, if it is adjusted to the loan, how will it be resolved, he asked.
If the state government wants to help the farmers, they should waive off the farmers’ loans as promised in the Congress election manifesto, he demanded that the Congress manifesto should start from Karnataka.
” During our period we gave double compensation when there was a flood. They have given pittance two thousand rupees as compensation, deducting it and giving it to the farmers is a gross injustice, this should be corrected by the state government immediately. Failing which, the BJP would launch a struggle against the government.
Let the murderers be hanged
Responding to a question about the murder of another young woman in Hubli, he said that it is a proof of the collapse of law and order in the state. Whoever committed such a heinous act should be brought and hanged, punished, even though such a heinous act is committed in broad daylight, the police are engrossed in running the club to register cases of caste abuse and political cases. Even though murders and rapes are happening in this way, no action is being taken. He has never seen the state government standing in front and aiding and abetting.
