Mangalore: The adventure sports relating to 17th National youth Festival, have already opened a new vista for local youths, who are enjoying them in Jeppinamogaru,(water sports) Nehru Maidan(land) and Panambur beach(races n sea), by taking the opportunities that came their way.
The formal competitions open in a day or two this week, but organizers kept the adventurous spirit of young Mangaloreans open to public in separate venues.
After January 12, these sports and cultural programmes are open to only “the participants” who range about 5 to 6 thousands from across India, said Jitendra, an officer of Gen. Thimmayya National Academy of Adventure.
The public will pay a nominal fee after January 12, for 4 days. Para-sailing will be held at Panambur beach. Water sports like jet Skiing Kayaking and banana ride were started at Jeppinamogaru in Netravati river since last Sunday(December 8).
All the sports were “safe” and conducted under “expert guidance”, Jitendra S., informed the press today(December 10).
