Moodbidri : An advocate of Moodbidri Shanthi Prasad Hegde opened fire in the air and also hit a student with his revolver after a clash broke out between the student and him on September 25, Wednesday evening. This led to tension in the area.

It is said Hegde’s car hit the student while taking a reverse near the bus stand. The student agitated  over this, held Hegde by his collar. This led to an altercation and several men who supported Hegde reportedly assaulted the student. Later Hegde used his pistol and opened fire in the air.

The police arrived and took the student to custody. He who is injured in the head has been admitted to  hospital. It is said there had been attempt on Hegde’s life on two earlier occasions too.

 He is the younger brother of  State Bar Council Vice President Padma Prasad Hegde.
