Bengaluru : Security has been heightened at the Lokayukta office on Wednesday with more than 50 advocates from Karnataka State Bar Council protesting outside the Lokayukta office demanding Lokayukta Y. Bhaskar Rao’s resignation.
The demand of Justice Rao’s resignation comes a day after the State government constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the alleged corruption charges against the Lokayukta.
Lokayukta office has turned into a fortress with the deployment of three platoons of KSRP surrounding the area and not allowing anybody to enter the premises.
Representing the Council, State Bar Council President, P.P. Hegde has entered the premises and will meet Justice Rao to demand resignation.
Meanwhile, the Upalokayukta who directed S.P. Sonia Narang to continue investigations, said that he has not received any orders yet.
The Opposition demanded discussion on the Lokayukta issue today during the monsoon session of the Legislative Assembly going on in Belagavi’s Suvarna Vidhana Soudha. Assembly was adjourned briefly to debate the extent to which the issue can be discussed.
