Mangalore : If all seemed to be not well in the district Congress on the morning of February 20, Wednesday, everything seemed to have settled down by evening.
If former mayor Ashraf had created a scene at the press meet convened at the party office on February 20 by senior leader Janardhan Poojari to announce the formation of three election related committees, Ashraf had staged a walk out protesting against the non-inclusion of his name in the committee despite him being a sincere Congress worker. He had also lashed out at senior leader Janardhan Poojari.
However, by evening Ashraf wore a calm front and addressed a press meet stating the morning incident better be forgotten and that he would strive for the party’s victory by sinking differences.
Kodijal Ibrahim, senior leader, who spoke on the occasion, said minorities had got due representation in the committee and added out of the 21 people appointed in the committee, 8 are Muslims, 5 are Christians and 2 are Jains.
Several leaders including UT Khader, Ivan D’Souza, Mohammad Masood were present at the press meet.
