Udupi : Close on the heels of the brutal gang rape of a medical student in Manipal by three autorickshaw bound men the police are seriously contemplating introduction of driver display system or  licence display system in all autorickshaws for  the safety o the passengers.

Police department is hoping that such a system would also reduce harassment of passengers by autorickshaw drivers as it ensures transparency and the driver’s details and photographs will always be known to the passenger who can note down the same so that it comes handy in case of any complaint.

There are also plans to introduce unique code system  helping police department track autorickshaw drivers.

It is learnt that the police department here plans to implement the scheme at the earliest.
