Udupi: The farmers are happy with the rainfall of this year. The agricultural activities at udupi district have been gained speed, due to the increased lashes of rain. Till now 2127.1 mm rainfall has been observed in the district.
Rice is the major cultivation in the district. District administration has an aim to cultivate rice in 45,000 hecter of land. Till now 75 per cent of the sowing has been done. People are collecting agricultural equipments from the various departments.
Seed-corns are being provided to the farmers at the subsidy of Rs 8 per kg, for SC and ST the subsidy has been increased to Rs 12 per kg. Till now 2304 quintal seed-corn has been distributed to the farmers.
Zink, borax, fertilisers, weed cutters and other equipments are available for the farmers at the subsidised rate.
When it comes to fertilisers 666 tonnes of fertiliser has been distributed till now out of 1535 ton. Still 869 tonnes of fertiliser is available for the farmers, informed joint agricultural director.
