Mangalore : The Kerala Pravasi Sangham (KPS) members in association with the members of the Mangalore Air Crash Victims’ Families Association organized a protest march in front of the new integrated terminal building (NITB) at Kenjar demanding equal compensations to the victims families on September 14, Tuesday.
Yadav Shetty, District Secretary of Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha inaugurated the protest.
Around 150 gathered in front of the NITB, with slogans against Air India.
P. K. Abdulla, the central vice president of Pravasi Sangham, said that AI of perceptive with the victims with regard to distribution of compensation. He also said that, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel had earlier promised that the victims’ kin will receive Rs. 76 lakh each according to the Montreal Convention, but now it claimed to be false.
He alleged that the airport is unnecessarily extracting money from the passengers in the form of UDF, he demanded immediate withdrawal of UDF imposed on passengers boarding domestic and international flights at Mangalore Airport.
Mangalore Air Crash Victims’ Families Association president Mohammad Beary and office bearers of KPS V. V. Krishna, Narayan, and others were also present. Later the protestors submitted a memorandum to Mr. Vasudev Rao, the director of Mangalore Airport.
