Mangalore: A new Diabetes clinic at the AJ Hospital & Reasearch Centre at Kuntikana in city today, was opened. Dr. A. Mohan Alva of Moodabidri inaugurated the medical facility.
Dr. Alva told the gathering in a speech that the full fledged diabetes clinic could serve large number of patients. He praised AJ Shetty and his associates for their services in medical field in city. Diabetes can be controlled if awareness is maintained, he fell. It is hardly cured.
Dr. A.S Rao, IPS and SP was the Chief Guest. He referred to diabetes as a social discomfort rather than a disease. A change of lifestyle among Indians has added to this social evil, he stated.
Dr. Ramesh Pai, another guest, described Diabetes as a disorder under Ayurveda that led to high blood sugar. Sushruta in ancient days, had identified this disease.
Dr. H.K Ganesh made a presentation on the disease and its cause. AJ Shetty presided.
Lidwin D’souza welcomed the gathering. Dr. Prashanth Marla delivered the vote of thanks.  Reema, department of human resources conducted the programme.
