Bangalore : A voice that was very popular on All India Radio, Bangalore, has gone still forever. GR Gundappa (69), a man whose voice was an integral part of the Krishi Ranga and Krishi Loka programmes of Bangalore Akashvani, passed away here on May 16, Wednesday afternoon . He is survived by his wife and two sons. The last rites were performed at the Sumanahalli electric crematorium in the presence of family and friends.
For over three decades, Gundanna was an integral part of the agriculture related programmes of the Bangalore Akashavani and came close to the hearts of the farming community through his advice, suggestions and had become the voice of the farmers . He was even instrumental in organizing Radio summits in rural areas in the 1970s. He was also featured on a Krishi Manthan column in Prajavani wherein he used to answer queries from farmers. He had been conferred with the Rajyotsava Award for the year 1996.
