Mangalore: Akhila Bharata Karmika Sangha organized a convention of labourers and owners to observe the May Day with the theme of ‘eradicate corruption and strengthen nation’ at Nehru Maidan on May 1, Sunday.
The organization created a atmosphere of communal harmony with the presence of Isha Vittala Das Swami of Kemaru, Mohanadas Swami of Manila, Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza of St Joseph Church, Jeppu and Abu Sufiyan of Bajpe Jum’a Masjid on the dais.
Speaking after inaugurating the convention, Vittal Das, whipped the governments and political parties for prevalent corruption.
Mr Abu Sufiyan warned the labourer organizations to keep themselves away from political leaders and political parties.
Lokesh Hegde, president of Karmika Sangha welcomed the gathering and delivered the introductory speech. Congress leader Moideen Bava, former MLC Anna Vinayachandra and Advocate SP Chengappa and others were present.
