Lucknow: The Samajwadi Party has won absolute majority in up state elections with 224 seats out of 403 available more than what Mayavathi received (201) in 2007 to live like a dictator of BSP now in shambles after her resignation.
However Mulayam Singh Yadav could have continued to lead socialist Party for the fourth time as Chief Minister.
In Jammu & Kashmir, Farooq gave up the CM post for his son, Omar(Abdullah). Here in Lucknow, Mulayam has bequeathed the post to his son, 38 year old engineer, Akhilesh Yadav who studied in Bangalore.
In Punjab, Parkash Singh Badal in his 80s remains CM, while his son is Dy. CM in Chandigarh.
Akhilesh met the state Governor and stated his claim for CM’s post. He would be the Youngest CM to watch. He was chosen as leader by his party on Saturday.
People also expected, or wanted Akhilesh to be their CM, on his emerging as the architect of his party’s colossal win against the elephants of Mayawathi’s Bahujan Samaj Party, which was not socialist only a party of some Communities.
But Samajwadi Party is rooted in Lohia socialism, and is more a people’s socialist party.
Akhilesh will be sworn in as Chief Minister(CM0 on March15. The announcement has brought tremendous joy among his people, to the mortification of Brahmins in BSP.
Amar singh has sent his good wishes to Mulayam, but is unlikely to be taken back. Yeddyurappa has a lesson here, from once powerful Amar Singh in UP.
Azam Khan, Amar’s enemy proposed Akhilesh as SP leader who is 3 times MLA from Kannauj, that reminds us of Samyukta princess in history.
