Bangalore: Eleven (11) of a group of murderers and criminals of Dandupalya, who took part in committing several forms of crimes, were sentenced to death on Thursday by the State Special Court.
The judgment was pronounced by H.R. Srinivas from the 34th Special Court set up in Parappana Agrahara Jail on the outskirts of the city. All 11 accused are sentenced to be hanged. A woman is among them.
The accused had indulged in most inhuman criminal activity, the judge described. Nothing like this had happened before. The accused have behaved most horribly and cruelly. So the attackers and killers deserve the death penalty, the judge added.
The Dandupalya gang in 2000 had put Bangalore in large scale fear due to looting, rape, murder and other crimes they practiced. Joint Police Commissioner Suresh Babu and investigating officer Chalapthi had arrested the gang in 2000, and jailed them.
