Mangaluru : Members of the all College Students Union staged a demonstration in-front of the DC office on November 6, Thursday for a separate police wing to look into cases of sexual assault on students.
Addressing at protest meet, association’s President Dikshit V. Shetty said cases of sexual assaults continue to be reported and there was no effective action by police against the perpetrators. The death of the 14-year-old girl following rape in Thirthahalli was one among the several cases of rape where police have failed to catch the real accused.
Setting up a special police wing for investigation of such sensitive cases will provide confidence among students who have been victims of sexual assault.
