Kundapur : State Minister for Mujrai and Ports Kota Srinivas Poojari has expressed his concern over the sorry state of many government schools despite the state government allocating 15.2 per cent grants in the 2012-13 budget.
He was speaking at the valedictory of an Educational Conference and Value Education Workshop-2012 organised at RN Shetty Hall, Kundapur , on December 27 Thursday under the aegis of the Karnataka State Primary School Teachers Association, Kundapur Zone.
He said the government was making all out efforts to retain the existing government schools. He said teachers of government schools can contribute significantly towards the betterment of the schools. The government was interested in bringing radical changes in the scenario of government schools, he said and added the teachers can give their suggestions in this direction to the government.
Deepika S Shetty, President of Kundapur Taluk Panchayat, presided over the function. SA Prabhaker Sharma. ZP Chief Executive Officer, Shanker Kharvi, Principal of DIET, and others were present.
Neelavara Surendra Adiga who has been elected president of Udupi District Kannada Sahitya Parishat was felicitated. Aroor Timmappa Shetty and Ramadevi too were honoured on being appointed as members of All India Teachers Federation.
