Udupi : Deputy Commissioner G. Jagadeesh said on Thursday that it was important that all people in the district participated in the Fit India movement. He was speaking at the inaugural function of the Fit India movement and National Sports Day organized by the District Administration and other organizations at the Town Hall, here.
Mr. Jagadeesh said that the district had all facilities needed for sports. It was upto the people especially the youth to make the best use of it. It was necessary to study the impact of social media on the youth. The youth were now spending more time on their mobile phones.
It was essential to make the youth more aware of the negative consequences of use of cell phones. Mobile phones should be used only for necessary work. The youth should become fit. They should eat proper food to become fit and should be conscious of using their time for good purposes, Mr. Jagadeesh said. Bhaskar Shetty, Principal of Dr. G. Shankar Women’s First Grade College and PG Centre, presided over the function. Roshan Kumar Shetty, Assistant Director of Sports and Youth Services, and others were present.
