Mangalore: Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta has warned that action will follow against political parties and candidates who fail to produce all election and campaign related ads before the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) before publishing the same.
Speaking to media men at the District Information office here on April 7, Sunday, he said the content relating to election etc that appears in the media will be scrutinized and made it a point to political parties and candidates cannot appeal on caste or community lines. Even the details of the expenses should be provided to the Committee, the DC said.
The DC further informed that a Media Surveillance Centre has come up at District Information Office and that all poll related content published in newspapers and aired on TV channels will be scrutinized.
Publicity material or banners cannot be displayed on private buildings too, the DC said and added political arties will have to seek prior approval of the administration in case it wants to bring people in vehicles for party functions.
City Corporation Commissioner Harish Kumar was also present at the press meet.
