Mangaluru : All shops including grocery and liquor shops too will be closed down during the period, Officials should ensure that weekend curfew is effectively enforced, informed Deputy Commissioner Dr Rajendra KV.
He was speaking in a meeting attended by taluk panchayat executive officers, tahsildars and taluk health officers at the deputy commissioner video conference hall on Thursday, June 24.
The weekend curfew will be enforced in Dakshina Kannada district from 7 pm on Friday to 7 am on Monday. During this period, only emergency services, medical stores, milk and paper supplies will be permitted. No other activities are allowed during the weekend. There will be no need for people to wander about as the government offices will be closed on the said dates. It is possible to reduce the spread of the infection by complete lockdown,” he said.
All state and Central Government offices, will be allowed to function. Similarly industries, companies and organisations that need to work round the clock and those dealing with emergency services are allowed to function and the staff will have to produce their ID cards. Construction activities and factories can function. Hotels can only provide takeaway service. Weddings that are already scheduled can be held in their respective residences with a maximum of 25 people. Doctors will provide treatment in the clinics for cough, cold and fever. Such patients should be compulsorily tested for Covid. Anganwadi workers, ASHA activists and medical staff should work diligently in treating the Covid patients. The infected should be mandatorily shifted to Covid Care Centres,” the DC added.
Long distance buses, trains and flights are permitted and people who are scheduled to travel will have to produce their tickets.
